February #1 : Winners never quit!

It has been quite a stressful week I can say. Piles of homework are just everywhere! Not bothering whether they're from school or tuition or any other classes but wherever I look, there's only one thing that appears - HOMEWORK! I also had to plan and divide my time wisely between study and sports. With loads of homework everyday, tuition and other classes, compulsory co-curricular activities to attend and not forgetting the training sessions of swimming daily, that was quite a challenging thing to do. Somehow, amazingly I was able to manage my time properly.

However, when it comes to the weekend, it wasn't that much of a relief as it may seem for everyone else as the week is finally coming to an end. As for me, I had my second swimming meet of the year. It was held in Cheras, KL. I took three events - 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke and I got one gold and two silver as a comeback. I would say I wasn't really satisfied with my results as I was aiming for two golds instead. I lost one of my gold to my competitor by only a few milliseconds! The dying and aching feeling of each and every single muscle in my body, the feeling of reaching the last five meters of the pool when i saw the string of flags, it was so intense! But to my disappointment, I came to know that I had finished the race second.

At that very moment, I practically felt like dying! There were so many questions running through my mind questioning myself over and over again. WHY?!! Because I have sacrificed my time for all the hard training I've been through, I have pushed myself to the limits, I started off the diving board well, I did my turning well and I did my finishing well. I couldn't be more confident in myself to all that matters. In addition to all of that, apparently, everyone saw that I was the first one to touch. I was very confused and disappointed that I just burst out. I couldn't hold back my tears any longer. I cried right after I did my warm down for the event.

On the very same day, late in the evening, I came to know that the sensor boards weren't actually working. They were just there for display! The time keepers were pressing their stopwatches manually. I almost blew up but I didn't. By that time, I've already calmed myself down and got over it. Thanks to my very supportive mum and all my friends who comforted me. Also, of course my coach for being very understanding. She didn't only comforted me. She also said, "It's okay. You've always got a second chance." Then she pat me on my back. Oh well, I just hope I can get in and qualify myself to be in the KL team.

That, was how i spend my weekend. So much of mixed up feelings, but I did enjoy and will cherish every moment spent by the pool, with all my beloved ones.

"I ran and ran and ran every day, and I acquired this sense of determination, this sense of spirit that I would never, never give up, no matter what else happened." -Wilma Rudolph
